Plano Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk

Burn off those calories before sitting down to a large Thanksgiving meal at the Plano Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk. Scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 2018, starting at 7:15 a.m., guests are encouraged to dress up in their turkey day gear to complete the 5K course. The event is held at the Amphitheater at Oak Point Park. Bring along the whole family as there is a Kids Dash event for younger children. Every runner is awarded with a cinnamon roll at the finish line. Parking is free and tickets range between $3 and 32.99.

Scrooge Puppet Theatre

The Scrooge Puppet Theatre is a local holiday tradition. Every year, it attracts families from all over to enjoy the NorthPark Center Scrooge Puppet show. The puppet show runs throughout much of the holiday season, starting right after Thanksgiving on Nov. 23 and running until Dec. 24, 2018. There are multiple free shows every night of the week, starting at the bottom of the hour. Stay a little longer and enjoy one of the other available puppet shows including Santa’s Toy Shoppe and The Twelve Days of Christmas Clock.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

What better way is there to kick start the holiday season than to attend a live performance of “A Charlie Brown Christmas”? This family-friendly show follows your favorite Charlie Brown characters including Lucy, Linus, and of course, Charlie Brown, as they explore the real meaning of Christmas. There are multiple show times available between Thursday, Nov. 29 to Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018. The events take place at the North Texas Performing Arts Center and tickets start at just $10 per person.

Brunch with Santa – Hometown Christmas

Your children are probably insisting on visiting with Santa before Thanksgiving even arrives. Why stand in a long line just for your kids to visit with Santa for a few seconds when you can have brunch with him instead? On Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, families are invited to share a meal with Santa from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The event is hosted by the Texas Atlanta Area Young Professionals Network. Tickets are just $20 each and include breakfast. Green eggs and ham will be served, as well as a few other typical breakfast items for the pickier of eaters.

Christmas in Wonderland

Save a few dollars while Black Friday shopping this year and put it toward the Christmas in Wonderland event. Hosted by the Abundant Life Christian Church, the Fellowship Hall will be redesigned into a winter wonderland fundraising gala. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. For just $30 per person, guests will enjoy beautiful holiday decorations, food and drinks, and entertainment.  Formal attire is expected in a white and silver theme.
It is officially the holiday season. It is time to bust out the holiday decorations, get started on the Thanksgiving shopping list, and begin planning your family-friendly holiday events.
