Best entertainment and technology features of the Jeep Grand Cherokee

Jeep’s 2021 Grand Cherokee wins a lot of praise for its versatility. From off-roading chops to raw speed, the extensive trim lineup and range of V-6 and V-8 engines offer something for all tastes. There’s a lot to like inside the cabin as well, including a great selection of infotainment and other tech features. Our Jeep experts here at Huffines CJDR Plano have put together some of the Grand Cherokee’s infotainment highlights for you.

Infotainment Screen and Stereo

The centerpiece of Jeep’s UConnect infotainment system in the Grand Cherokee is a 7-inch screen. It displays clearly marked menus that are easy to use, allowing you to access features like volume controls and radio channels. The Grand Cherokee’s infotainment screen is paired with a six-speaker stereo so you can enjoy your favorite music or podcasts while you’re on the go.

A larger 8.4-inch infotainment screen is available as an optional extra. You can also opt for a nine-speaker stereo for an even better listening experience. If you prioritize the very best in audio performance, you can’t look past the Grand Cherokee’s third audio option: a 19-speaker premium stereo.

Connectivity Options

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are the two main programs that provide smartphone compatibility with your Jeep’s infotainment system, and they both come standard with the Grand Cherokee. Both systems are relatively easy to set up. All you need to do is plug your phone into your Jeep’s main USB socket and follow the on-screen instructions to get started.

Bluetooth connectivity is another standard feature to look forward to. Every Grand Cherokee is also equipped with at least two USB ports.

Additional connectivity features are available in the Grand Cherokee’s higher trims. One of these is a wireless hotspot, which is sure to prove valuable if you need to stay in touch with your family, friends, or work colleagues while you’re on the go.

Family-Friendly Features

Many families opt for the Grand Cherokee due to its roomy two rows of seating and ample cargo storage. But this mid-sized SUV also boasts infotainment features designed with the entire family in mind. Take, for example, Jeep’s optional rear-seat entertainment system. The system features two screens mounted on the back of the front seats so that rear-seat passengers can have complete control over their entertainment needs. This is an ideal setup for kids on long and short drives.

The entertainment system is compatible with DVD and Blu-ray, allowing your family members to watch their favorite movies on the road.

Driver Assistance Technology

Jeep provides you with driver assistance features that work to make the driving experience more convenient and keep you and your passengers safe.

Keyless entry and push-button start are two standard features focused on your convenience. The next time you have your hands full, you’ll be able to get into your Grand Cherokee without having to struggle with your keys. You can add remote start as an upgrade. This is especially handy if you want to cool your cabin down before getting into your car on a hot Texas afternoon.

The Grand Cherokee is loaded with a range of safety features. Blind-spot monitoring and a rear-view camera come standard. In addition, you get rear parking sensors and the rear cross-traffic alert feature to give you an added layer of security when you’re reversing in or out of parking spots.

Optional safety features and upgrades include the addition of forwarding collision warning and automatic emergency braking. These systems will alert you if another vehicle or object up ahead threatens to cause an accident and automatically apply the brakes to bring your Jeep to a stop if you don’t respond to the alert in time.

Jeep offers a range of features to improve your safety on the highway. Other trucks and SUVS, like the Toyota Rav4, will give the Grand Cherokee a run for its money. Adaptive cruise control helps you maintain a steady speed and safe distance from other vehicles. You can also add lane departure warning and lane-keep assist features.

Trims and Infotainment

The 2021 Grand Cherokee is sold in 10 trims, and the availability of specific infotainment and tech features varies across the lineup. The trims are Laredo E, Laredo X, Limited, 80th Anniversary, Trailhawk, Overland, High Altitude, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk.

The Laredo E features the base infotainment setup. The larger screen, wireless hotspot, satellite radio, and navigation system come standard in the Laredo X.

In the Limited trim, you get two additional USB ports. The 80th Anniversary trim includes most of the driver safety features, such as forward collision warning and emergency braking.

The off-roading Trailhawk gets the nine-speaker stereo, while the Overland adds a few handy tech features, like rain-sensing windshield wipers. If you want to access the premium 19-speaker stereo, it comes standard in the Summit trim.

The last two trims, SRT and Trackhawk, stand out above the others with their extra power under the hood and high-performance features. There are no major infotainment additions compared to the Summit trim.
