Looking for some fun night-time activities for yourself and your date in the historic city of Plano, Texas? Huffines CJDR Plano has put together a list of things you and your significant other will surely enjoy while out on a fun-filled night in town. With something to suit a variety of budgets and interests, memorable moments are waiting to be made!
Visit Historic Downtown Plano
Initially settled in the 1840s, it was once the commercial center of a farming community. Downtown Plano has since experienced a rebirth, with many historic commercial and civic buildings having been restored. This unique and authentic area has something to offer every day of the week, and you are guaranteed to find some ideal activities for a date night. Enjoy an outing in town by experiencing performing arts, galleries, event venues, as well as shops and restaurants, all set against the backdrop of historic buildings.
Experience Downtown Plano’s Art & Wine Walk, where you and your date will have the opportunity to sample a variety of wines, enjoy live music and curated art exhibitions, and shop at local artists and vendors. Each attendee to the event will receive a commemorative glass, along with a passport and a wine guide. The Art & Wine Walk takes place on the second Thursday of every month from April to December, with every month offering a unique theme.
Take a romantic stroll through the inlaid brick streets of Haggard Park and head on over to enjoy the exhibitions of more local artists at the ArtCentre of Plano. As events are rather sparse, make sure to contact them ahead of time to see if they have anything on their calendar.
Continuing on with the arts theme, you may also enjoy the music and theatrical productions offered at local indoor performing arts venues, such as the Courtyard Theatre or the Cox Building Playhouse. The Courtyard Theater is home to the Courtyard Texas Music Series, which is a concert series centered around “Texas-Country” music. Tickets for concerts run at $30 and need to be reserved; shows typically start at 7:30 p.m.
If you and your date prefer a bit of theatrics, then the Cox Building Playhouse hosts a variety of shows, including musicals, comedy acts, and movies. The elegant, black box-style theater is an ideal stop while on a night out. Be sure to check out which events are running ahead of time.
Dinner, Drinks, and Dancing
After enjoying the cultural side of Plano, you and your date can cap it off with a romantic dinner and fine drinks, followed by showing your moves on the dance floor. From grills to breweries to fine dining, Plano boasts a staggering 800 restaurants to choose from.
For starters, we recommend that you take your date to Sambuca 360 at The Shops at Legacy. The grill serves up tasty American cuisine and live music every night, with high-energy bands performing on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Sambuca 360 also features dynamic light shows and gigantic video screens that create a party atmosphere. Enjoy half-price happy hour on beer, wine by the glass, and cocktails, Tuesday through Friday, 4-9 p.m.
Romance your date with fine dining at Legacy West’s Amorino or enjoy a bit of healthy Mediterranean Greek cuisine at CAVA. Stop by Toulouse Café and Bar, where a more casual setting will make you feel as though you are in Paris. If you are a bit on a budget, then the Shake Shack should hit the spot, with a menu of tantalizing burgers, fries, and drinks, such as their famous shakes.
Not finding the right cuisine for your plans? Then make sure to check out all of the additional restaurants that Plano has to offer.
