Where to Go Horseback Riding Near Plano, Texas

two horses standing nose to noseNothing is as Texan as a horseback ride. Whether you’re an experienced rider or a greenhorn beginner, there are countless places near Plano to go horseback riding.
Huffines Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Plano has been around the block a couple of times. We’ve put together a list of a few of our favorite places to go horseback riding in the area to take away some of the guesswork for you.

  1. Widowmaker Trail Rides

About ten minutes’ drive west from the Dallas airport is Widowmaker Trail Rides. Take a ride on the Walnut Grove Trail around Lake Grapevine or through one of their various other trails.
If you’re looking for a trail ride, Widowmaker Trail Rides is the place to be.
All rides are two hours long and cost $90 per person. All rides must be scheduled by calling for an appointment and there is a six-person maximum per group unless you schedule a ride for up to ten of your own group.

  1. Storybook Ranch

Just a short drive north, Storybook Ranch in McKinney is the perfect horseriding experience for younger children.
Storybook offers trail rides, horseback riding lessons, a horse camp, petting zoo, hayrides, and more. They also specialize in hosting group activities for kids, families, corporate events, and any kind of party.

  1. Mill-Again Stables

For riding lessons, boarding, and camps, Mill-Again is a great choice.
Mill-Again Stables is one of the most top-rated businesses for horseback riding. They offer lessons to riders of any age and experience level. Ride outside or in their indoor arena during their lessons or camps they host throughout the year.
Rates are $60 for private lessons and $50 for group lessons. To schedule a lesson, call 469-999-3734.

  1. Chisholm Trail Rides

For one of the best trail-riding experiences, head to Chisholm Trail Rides.
Ride through 1,000 acres of different terrain in Rockwall, about a half-hour drive east of Plano. The rides are open-trail, which means no follow-the-leader-style trail riding. They let riders ride up to their skill level — how fast you ride is dependent on your experience.
They offer many packages, such as a lake ride, sunset ride, an hourlong lesson, three-hour trail ride, and more. Rides last anywhere from one to four hours, depending on the package. The regular per hour rate is $75, but a one-hour trail or lesson is $50.

  1. Debut Arabians

Debut Arabians offers a chance to take a ride on beautiful Arabian horses.
The instructors at Debut Arabians are experienced in training and competing.
The first evaluation lesson starts at $80 and each additional lesson costs $45. They accept all experience levels and ages and teach both Western and English disciplines.
