Find a thrift store, such as St. Vincent de Paul of North Texas, and have some fun. Set a price limit for everyone to find the zaniest outfit possible. You can either let everyone pick out their own pieces under that price limit or assign each other a friend from the group who you’re going to dress for the evening. Once you have your thrifted outfit on, hit the town for an evening of laughs and fun.
Be a Tourist for the Day
Take a step back and look at Plano from a different perspective as you pretend to be a tourist in your own town for the day. Visit tourist attractions such as the Heritage Farmstead Museum or Interurban Railway Museum to learn about Plano’s rich history. Stop by the Southfork Ranch where the television show “Dallas” was filmed. Stop into the kitschy souvenir shops, eat at a restaurant you’ve never tried before, or just wander around the city to take in the sights and sounds of Plano.
Pamper Yourselves
Plan to spend Galentine’s Day performing some self-care with your best friends. Book appointments at a local spa, such as Woodhouse Spa, and be sure to include massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, and more. Spend the day relaxing, being pampered, and conversing with friends. Not only will you have a tremendous spa experience, but you’ll also feel like a whole new you, ready to conquer the world.
Make Galentine’s Cards
Remember in elementary school when everyone made Valentine’s cards for everyone in the class and then handed them out with a piece of candy or stick of gum? Enjoy a little nostalgia by bringing this practice back. Gather your friends and craft supplies and spend the afternoon creating handmade cards for your favorite assisted living facility, local medical center, or another organization in Plano. Plano is home to various parks, such as Harrington Park, which offer amenities including pavilions, picnic tables, and hiking trails. Have everyone bring their favorite potluck dish to share and spend the afternoon soaking up the sun, socializing, and sinking your teeth into some delicious treats. Take a break and hike the trails or bring a ball to toss around. If you have four-legged friends, you may want to add them to the mix for a day of fun in the sun.
Watch a Movie
Pick up a few bottles of wine or the ingredients for your favorite cocktails, such as margaritas or white Russians, and a chick flick, and you’ve got an evening of entertainment for you and your friends. Don’t forget to stock up on chocolate kisses, potato chips, pretzels, or popcorn to snack on while you’re enjoying cocktails and a movie. You could even make it a slumber party-themed movie night and have everyone show up in their favorite pajamas with blankets and pillows to snuggle in while you enjoy the show.
Host Galentine’s Brunch
Start your day with a delicious brunch, either at your favorite brunch spot, like Eddie’s Diner, or put together a homemade brunch and invite your friends over. If you opt to go the homemade route, there are many dishes you can make up ahead of time, so you’re not in the kitchen while your friends are chatting in the other room. Recreate a Throwback Picture
If you and your besties have been friends for a long time, find a picture of you taken years ago and recreate the image. You can go all out and try to find clothes that match what you’re wearing in the original and then set the scene and snap a few pictures. This activity is certain to provide you with lots of laughter and bring back fond memories of your friendship.
Enjoy a Cup of Hot Cocoa
Have everyone over for a bonfire and hot cocoa in the backyard. You can set up a hot cocoa bar with peppermint sticks, cinnamon sticks, mini chocolate chips, toffee bits, whoppers, truffles, marshmallows, and whipped cream. You can also set out some peppermint schnapps, Buttershots Schnapps, Bailey’s Irish Cream, or Kahlua to add to spice up the hot chocolate. Build a fire, snuggle up under a blanket, and sip your cocoa as you chat with your friends and enjoy your time together.
