Small dog with a yellow Frisbee in its mouth running outsideMost of us have a furry friend at home that we wish we could take more places. Animals are very social creatures and if you have to get out for the day for some fresh air, they are stuck at home missing you unless you know where to go. You’re in luck on that because we have put together five reasons why Plano is one of the most pet-friendly cities in Texas.

  1. Jack Carter Dog Park

If you want to get your furry friend out for some socialization and exercise, check out Jack Carter Dog Park. It’s a double-gated and fenced two-acre park with separate areas for large and small dogs so you can let them run and play with confidence. They provide picnic tables, benches, shaded areas, and water stations for your canine companions. Find Jack Carter Dog Park at 2215 Pleasant Valley Dr.

  1. Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar

At the Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar, you can bring your furry friend along for a nice meal so they can get out of the house. They just ask you to keep your pet on a leash and keep them out of the chairs. For you, they offer a full menu including salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers, and pizza. They also have a dessert and a children’s menu.
There is also a specialized Pup Menu with items such as plain brown rice, a grilled burger patty with brown rice and veggies, and grilled chicken breast with veggies and brown rice, along with complimentary water. Let your pooch dine in style with you! Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar is located at 8401 Preston Dr.

  1. K9 Cinemas

We all love watching a nice movie with our pets at home, so why not take that venture in the public? Dogs love car rides and cuddles more than anything. At K9 Cinemas you can give them exactly that. Tickets are $15 and include one person, two puppies, and free drinks. This dog-friendly theater is located at 1301 Custer Rd. Suite 810.

  1. Arbor Hills Nature Preserve

If you have an active pup then taking a visit to Arbor Hills Nature Preserve would be a great way to get some of that pent up energy out! They have plenty of trails with over 200-acres to explore. Feel free to take your pets, on leashes, over three miles of paved recreational trails for a walk or jog. Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is found at 6701 West Parker Road from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

  1. Legacy West

Another place for you to get out with your four-legged friend is Legacy West. They have places to shop and eat along with plenty of space for walking. There are also areas such as Oak Point Park and arts and culture spaces for you to check out. Find Legacy West at 7700 Windrose Ave.
Bring your pets along for a day of adventure while in Plano. Their many family and pet-friendly places allow you to enjoy your day with your most trusted companions. Our pets deserve fun too, and they can get it here!
