Find Out What's New with the 2019 Dodge Charger

Closeup of the speedometer on a Dodge ChargerThe Dodge Charger is one of the most anticipated muscle cars of 2019. There have been rumors of a few significant design changes. This is what we currently know about the 2019 Dodge Charger.

Updated Exterior Design

Many would agree with the statement, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” It seems that Dodge will mostly follow this statement with the 2019 Charger with the exception of a few minimal design changes. While the rear end is unlikely to see any significant changes, the biggest changes will occur to the front end, specifically the grille.
However, Dodge has only released a teaser image so we cannot really list the expected changes. We can tell that the grille is updated and appears to be longer in width and features a new and larger air duct system. This same change was recently released on the 2019 Dodge Challenger. But much of the front end is covered, meaning Dodge does not yet want us to know the exact upcoming changes, just that the front end will be different for 2019.

Potential Power Increases

Similar to the 2019 Dodge Challenger changes, many believe that the new air duct system means that the engine will also produce greater horsepower and speed, thus needing a larger intake system. This would be a welcomed change to Charger loyalists who believe it is about time the Charger got a speed increase.
Rumors question if the Charger will borrow the updated V8 engine from the similar Dodge Challenger. If it does, we could see a power boost with an extra 18 horsepower. Currently, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat has a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque power. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. An increase in speed could make the 2019 Dodge Charger one of the most exciting muscles cars on the road.

Interior Updates

Without confirmation from Dodge, we cannot really say what the interior of the new 2019 Dodge Charger will look like. We can expect that it will feature a design that is similar to the 2018 model with sporty seats that improve grip and driver comfort. We can also expect to see a few technological upgrades to improve connectivity and interior functionality.

Major Redesign Potential of 2021

Sometime last year, a report was released that the Dodge Charger would not see a full redesign until at least 2021. A new redesign would be more lightweight and have better overall fuel economy. However, we cannot confirm the source of this report and it continues to be a rumor. We will just have to wait and see what Dodge has in store for the iconic 2019 Dodge Charger.
In short, it is still hard to say what the new Dodge Charger will bring. We can expect to see the full release of the 2019 Dodge Charger sometime this summer. In the meantime, come by Huffines Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Plano to see the current inventory of Dodge Chargers.
