As summer winds down and we enter a new season, many may wonder what activities and events are happening in Plano, Texas. Our community hosts many exciting events every year, and staying on top of dates, and upcoming things to do can help you stay active in your community this autumn. Be sure to mark your calendar for some of these fun and exciting happenings in town.
Jazz Under the Stars

This fall is Jazz Under the Stars, happening on both Sept. 15 and Oct. 20 at Haggard Park. This free, live music event is a great way to see some of the city’s culture and talent. Bring your food, snacks, drinks, and some lawn chairs to enjoy the musical entertainment. It’s great for a date night or a night out with friends. The recurring event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
2022 Plano Balloon Festival
Also happening this fall is the 2022 Plano Balloon Festival. This year marks 41 years for the annual event. It’s a four-day celebration that includes something for everyone to love. You can see skydivers, attend special kid-friendly activities, sample delicious foods, and browse handmade artisan goods. Of course, the hot-air balloons are the main attraction at the balloon festival. Marvel at the bright and bold colors, and even take a tethered balloon ride for an incredible view of Plano. The event runs from Thursday, Sept. 22, to Sunday, Sept. 25.
The event runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Oktoberfeast at Legacy Hall
Oktoberfeast is taking place Sept. 24 at Legacy Hall. It will feature German fare, live polka music, and lots of craft beer sampling opportunities. The event starts at noon, so be sure to mark your calendar and come hungry.
2022 State Fair of Texas
Be sure to check out the State Fair of Texas taking place in neighboring Dallas this fall. The fair celebrates education, agriculture, and community and takes place all fall from the end of September to the end of October. This year’s theme is “treats of Texas” and features incredible food, fun rides, and tons of family-friendly fun. Fair enthusiasts can even purchase a season pass to keep the fun going all season long, from Sept. 30 to Oct. 23. See the rodeo, art show, and fair time football at this year’s event.
Fall Plano Train Show 2022
Head to the Plano Events Center for the Fall Plano Train Show 2022. Admission is free for children under 12 and $10 for other visitors. You can explore various home set-ups and even have the change to win an hourly door prize. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2.
Red Tent Farmers’ Market
Explore the Red Tent Farmers’ Market this fall and shop artisan booths, local food vendors, and more. The farmers’ market takes place on Saturdays and Sundays at two locations in Plano. Find them on Saturday, Sept. 17, at The Shops at Willow Bend and on Sunday, Sept. 18, at The Granite Park Boardwalk Local Market. The market runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Wine Wednesday Paint and Sip
Wine lovers will love Wine Wednesday hosted by Pipe and Palette at The Shops at Willow Bend. Get your creative juices flowing, and paint with the community. Pipe and palette hosts fun events all season long, so don’t feel discouraged if you can’t make the wine paint and sip night on Sept. 14. They also host paint your dog events where you can receive instruction for painting your special pet. The Wine Wednesday event is on Sept. 14 and goes from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Be sure to register online because seating can be limited.
Plano International Festival 2022
Another great community festival taking place in Plano is the Plano International Festival 2022. The event is on Oct. 15 at Haggard Park in Plano. Get ready for a multicultural celebration with lots of fun food, entertainment, and activities. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fall Harvest Festival and Outdoor Market
The Shops at Legacy are hosting a Fall Harvest Festival and Outdoor Market Oct. 22. There, you can find fall-scented candles, festive flowers, and over 40 vendors selling seasonal goods. Enjoy live music, themed photo opportunities, and more at the shops. Come hungry because the on-site restaurants often offer specials for festival attendees. The market is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it is free to attend.
Plano Food and Wine Festival
Another event happening on Oct. 22 is the Plano Food and Wine Festival. This is the festival’s fifth year featuring over 100 award-winning wines, culinary treats, and boutique items from local vendors. Over 15 restaurants participate in the event to offer live demos and delicious food. Held at Legacy West, the event runs from noon through 6 p.m. You can purchase tickets to the event online.
Texas Fest Plano
Come celebrate all things Texas at the Texas Fest Plano on Nov. 19. The event is at the beautiful Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve. You’ll find artisan crafters, a classic car show, dog Frisbee, pony rides, and so much more. It’s a great event for kids and adults alike and free to the public. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
