Places Around Plano, TX to Cool Down on a Hot Spring DaySpring in Texas is much hotter than other parts of the country, so you need to start planning where to beat the heat earlier in the year. Plano, Texas, has a large selection of places to cool down. Here are a few to get you started.

  1. Jack Carter Pool

The Jack Carter Pool is much more than just a pool. It’s a family-friendly water park. Since it opened in 2016, kids and adults alike have been thrilled with the dual-rider tube slide, the body slide, and the lazy river. The leisure pool is also a big hit with the crowds, complete with lap lanes if you want to work on your fitness. A deep water pool with a diving platform and climbing wall appeals to the adventure-seekers, and a toddler area with spray features is great for the tiny ones who aren’t big swimmers just yet.
Try out the Flow Rider surfing simulator or reserve the party rental areas for your whole crew. Don’t forget to bring cash for the concession stand!

  1. Tom Muehlenbeck Center

With both an inside and outside entertainment area, the Tom Muehlenbeck Center will keep you busy all day. The inside area features an eight-lane lap pool, a family pool with a lazy river, a water slide, and a children’s play area. Outside is the large family pool with volleyball net, seating around the fountain, a shallow pool for the non-swimmers, multiple water slides, shaded seating section, and a splash pad for the kids. Lounge by the pool or jump into any of these activities for a great time.

  1. The Texas Pool

Listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a National Landmark, the Texas Pool is a 168,000-gallon saltwater pool shaped like the Lone Star State. It features a diving board, two water slides, an island, and a shallow wading area for the kids. Water and beach volleyball are both allowed, so grab your team and get out there! BBQ Grills & Snack Bar is on site with concessions for the swimmers and loungers but you can also bring your own coolers with food and nonalcoholic drinks. In between dips, check out the murals painted by Cherokee Nation Certified Artists.

  1. Plano Aquatic Center

If you want to avoid the sun altogether, stop into the Plano Aquatic Center. The 25-yard lap pool with diving boards will keep your heart pumping, or you can hang out in the swimming pool with a shallow section for younger swimmers. There is also an outdoor splash ground with fountains and sprayers if you want to venture out, and the center does offer pool party rentals for your next celebration.
With the change in weather, it’s a wonderful time to get outside and have some fun. But Plano gets a bit warmer, so it’s helpful to find a few places to cool down if it starts to heat up too much. Stop by any of these great indoor or outdoor places to have some fun and forget about the hot sun.
