The Chrysler Pacifica is a great minivan for drivers who like plenty of space inside for cargo and passengers. Its exterior design is smart and focused on maximum functionality for the cargo area and on-road driving. Chrysler has also equipped its popular van with a long list of infotainment and safety features. 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Engine and Exterior Design
The Pacifica minivan has a 3.6-liter V-6 engine under its hood that can put out 287 horsepower and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. You can opt for a hybrid powertrain instead, which consists of a V-6 engine, an electric motor, and a 16 kWh battery pack. This setup generates 260 horsepower.
When it comes to fuel economy, the gas-powered Pacifica achieves 28 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg on city roads with front-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive models achieve 25 mpg and 17 mpg respectively. The hybrid version has an all-electric driving range of 33 miles, which may be enough for your daily commute. Once the all-electric range is used up, the gas engine automatically kicks in.
If you plan to tow something, you should choose the gas-powered Pacifica. It has a towing capacity of 3,600 pounds, which should be enough for a midsize trailer or boat. By contrast, Chrysler does not recommend towing anything with the hybrid Pacifica.
One of the standout exterior features is the Pacifica’s large 20-inch wheels, but you can opt for more modest 17-inch wheels if you prefer. There’s also a tri-pane sunroof on offer to let in some fresh air and sunlight during your drive. The exterior design is completed with chrome accents to give your minivan an impressive edge over other vehicles.
Chrysler Pacifica Passenger and Cargo Space
If stowing lots of cargo is your top priority, you’ll struggle to find an affordable alternative to the Pacifica. It has 32 cubic feet of storage behind the third row, 87 cubic feet with the third row down, and a whopping 140 cubic feet when both rear rows are folded flat. Unlike other minivans, the Pacifica’s seats fold flat into the floor, which makes it a lot easier to access additional storage space. Some other vans require you to remove the seats entirely to use more space, meaning you have to find a place to store them.
In the standard setup, the Pacifica can seat seven people across three rows, but you can add a middle seat to the second row to boost passenger capacity to eight. All three rows have enough space to comfortably accommodate adult passengers. The base trim boasts cloth upholstery, but you can gain more luxurious cabin features by moving up the trim ladder.
Pacifica Infotainment and Safety Tech
The infotainment system in the Pacifica includes a 10.1-inch touch screen and a six-speaker stereo. The Wi-Fi hotspot will allow you to stay connected while you’re on the go, wherever your journey may take you. Other standard features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and four USB ports.
Optional upgrades include a premium 19-speaker stereo, wireless device charging, and a navigation system. If you regularly travel with your kids in the van, you may want to consider getting the rear-seat infotainment system. It adds two 10.1-inch screens for second-row passengers so they can select their own music or videos.
Chrysler equips the Pacifica with a variety of safety features to make your job easier behind the wheel. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning all come standard. You also benefit from automatic high-beam headlights to help improve visibility during night driving or periods of bad weather. Finally, the rear-seat alert warns you to check the back of the van before you get out so you don’t leave your kids or pets behind.
The optional safety upgrades all revolve around parking. You can add forward parking sensors and a surround-view parking camera that provides you with an aerial view of your vehicle. The hands-free parking assist feature can automatically maneuver your van into your desired parking spot.
Trims and Pricing for the 2023 Pacifica
You can buy the Pacifica in four trims for the 2023 model year: Touring, Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle. The base trim has an MSRP of around $37,000 and has a seven-passenger layout. The range-topping Pinnacle’s MSRP is just under $54,000.
If you step up to the Touring L, you’ll get synthetic leather upholstery and driver’s seat memory settings. There are also sunshades for third-row passengers. One optional add-on to the Touring L is the Road Tripper model, which gets you a roof rack, a towing package, and some unique design upgrades. The Limited trim turns up the luxury in the cabin with leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and a power-folding third row.
The Pacifica Pinnacle is the one to go for to get the rear-seat infotainment system and 20-inch wheels. As an added bonus, the second row benefits from pillows.
If you decide to opt for the Pacifica Hybrid, it has slightly different trim options. There are three trims to choose from: Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle. It also has a higher MSRP starting at $49,995. Standard cabin features include leather upholstery and heated front seats. The Limited trim gains ventilated front seats, 20-inch wheels, and nappa leather upholstery. Lastly, the Pinnacle includes quilted leather seats and sunshades for the second and third rows. The top trim in the Hybrid lineup costs just under $60,000.
