Exterior Style

Stylistically speaking, the 2022 Grand Cherokee comes in with a refined look from the curb. You still see the straight lines that give the Grand Cherokee its unmistakable Jeep character. As you look upon the Grand Cherokee, you’ll notice its growth in proportions. The 2022 model measures 3.7 inches longer and 1-inch wider than the previous model. In addition, the Grand Cherokee has a wheelbase that’s two inches longer and a track width 1.4 inches wider.

A lower roof line and a D-pillar angle add a sleek style to the Grand Cherokee’s larger proportions. The longer hood extends over the signature seven-slot grille, and the entire nose cants forward for an aggressive front fascia. Standard premium LED headlights and taillights illuminate your drive, and you can add fog lights as an option. Wheels range in size from 18 to 21 inches in various styles.

Interior Comfort and Convenience

Modern style, premium materials, and elevated craftsmanship take the Grand Cherokee to new heights. Available 16-way power-adjustable front seats feature heating, ventilating, and massaging functions. The interior LED ambient lighting system adds a sophisticated style. Only the base model Laredo comes with premium cloth upholstery. Upper trims have premium Capri, Nappa, or Palermo leather and suede seats in various styles and colors.

Jeep introduced the Grand Cherokee L, which adds a third row. The L model measures 11.4 inches longer to accommodate seven passengers without sacrificing comfort. In addition, the 17.2 cubic feet of cargo space offers plenty of room for suitcases, groceries, or gear. The second and third rows fold flat for more storage space.

Eight trims make up the Grand Cherokee lineup. The lower four models have an 8.4-inch interactive display powered by Jeep’s UConnect infotainment system. The top four trims feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen with built-in navigation. All infotainment systems have pre-loaded Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth technology. In addition, an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot connects multiple devices with a range up to 50 feet.

Now, Jeep offers a front passenger display screen with Amazon Fire TV installed. Your co-pilot can access navigation, music, and more and send it to the driver’s infotainment touchscreen. An available rear-seat entertainment system uses twin monitors mounted to the back of the front seats and features Fire TV. Your standard audio system uses nine speakers, or you can opt for the premium 19-speaker premium sound system for the ultimate listening experience.

Engine Options

Every Grand Cherokee trim comes standard with a Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine with dual overhead cams, variable valve timing, and electronic throttle control with integrated speed control technology. Jeep mates this engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. As a result, this powertrain rates at 290 horsepower, 257 pound-feet of torque, and a towing capacity of 6,200 pounds.

You can opt for a 5.7-liter V-8 engine with variable valve timing and a multi-displacement system with Fuel Saver technology on select Grand Cherokee models. Jeep pairs this engine with a high-performance eight-speed automatic transmission to take advantage of the impressive power. This combination produces 357 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque and can tow a best-in-class 7,200 pounds when properly equipped.

Now you can opt for a plug-in hybrid powertrain with the Grand Cherokee 4xe. Jeep pairs a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack to power your drivetrain. This PHEV provides 375 horsepower, 470 pound-feet of torque, and can tow up to 6,000 pounds.

Capability

Jeep’s legendary 4×4 capability comes in three available systems, Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II. All systems feature an electronic limited-slip rear differential. In addition, Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system enables you to tune your Grand Cherokee’s throttle, suspension, and steering to match road and weather conditions or your mood. You can select the Auto mode for your everyday driving. Choosing Sport mode allows for a more spirited drive. Off-road enthusiasts love the Rock and Mud/Sand modes for enhanced traction and control. Finally, snow mode helps you tackle wintry weather.

You can equip your Grand Cherokee with the Quadra-Lift air suspension system. This system features semi-active damping to smooth out the imperfections on the road. In addition, it automatically lowers your Grand Cherokee at highway speeds to improve aerodynamics for more efficient driving. It also allows you to raise your Grand Cherokee to clear obstacles or ford water when you’re on the trail.

Driver-Assist Technology

Every model features a suite of driver-assist systems that use optical sensors and radar to monitor your Grand Cherokee’s surroundings. The suite includes adaptive cruise control, which allows you to preset your speed and distance while in traffic. Adaptive cruise control automatically slows your Grand Cherokee down as traffic delays and rates you up as the way ahead clears.

An automatic emergency braking system scans the way forward for obstacles, alerting you with visual and audio cues. If you fail to react, the system engages emergency brake support to help mitigate or avoid a possible collision. This system also works with the rear cross-path detection system that scans to either side for approaching vehicles while in reverse.

A blind-spot monitoring system alerts you to vehicles entering your blind spots allowing you to change lanes confidently. In addition, the lane-keeping assist system tracks your Grand Cherokee while traveling within marked lanes, alerting you when you drift.
